The Dream

(Ernie Garland)

I was dreaming about a church service being held on a farm, outside under some trees. The service was just dead; going nowhere (we've all been in one of those). Then an old man no one recognized stood up in the back of the group and began singing. After his song, spontaneous worship just began to break out in the congregation. We turned around to talk to the man, but he was gone. This is the song he sang to us.
He never cared for sickness
No, He never cared for pain
He never cared for burdens bourn
By the weary and the lame
That’s why He took every problem
There could ever happen to be
To the cross of Calvary with Him
And nailed it to the tree

He said, “Let there be freedom
Let there be no more pain.
I’ll mend the fall for one and all
Just let my Spirit reign
Let all the sickness pass
Let those who mourn be glad

I’ll trade my kingly robes
For all your ragged clothes
Just let my peace come in
