Princess in Diguise

(Ernie Garland)
Ernie Garland

Written to my wife in the early days of our courtship. I saw things in her she never recognized. I did my best to show them to her in this song.

She was a princess in disguise, despised in her own eyes All because she didn’t realize She was a princess in disguise despised in her own eyes She was a princess, a princess in disguise. From her father’s house she came, being told she was to blame She proved him wrong but still she felt the same. And for those who sought her hand, she could never understand Why their love for her just turned to sand. And through the years as she shed her tears And looked in vain for love God was quietly sending her the man that would be the one. To love the princess in disguise, treasured in his eyes Because he saw and quickly recognized She was a princess in disguise, so lovely, such a prize And so at last it came as no surprise She was a princess and her dream was realized.
